Stanton Ilkeston FC's website hosted on Grassroots Connected

We are working hard behind the scenes to bring grassroots football clubs a professional-looking, modern and responsive website, alongside the optional graphic design services.

Our web designer Morgan takes you through the different elements which make up the new club website homepage, launching in time for the new season.

The new template – modelled by Stanton Ilkeston FC – features a clean white design, and as before you will be able to customise to your club’s branding.

Grassroots Football Club Websites

Club Website Design

When planning and mapping out the new template, we consulted with a small selection of our clubs to ensure that it meets the changing demands of different clubs at varying levels of the game. This means our website template will be suitable for clubs with just one team or 20+ teams whilst adapting to the modern challenges and requirements for a website for junior clubs, such as adhering to privacy and safeguarding best practices.

Adding Sponsors

First impressions count. Having an online presence and the idea of being in front of a local, engaged audience is an attractive prospect for potential new sponsors. That is why the new template will easily allow you to add sponsor logos on the homepage or in the footer.

Safeguarding

For junior clubs it will be mandatory to add a message about safeguarding to your homepage. We would also add a dedicated page for the club to outline their own safeguarding policies and practices. We take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously.

Fixtures and Results

For adult clubs, the homepage will show their next fixture details and latest result. This is the key bit of info the average user (be it player or supporter) looks for when viewing your site – location, kick off time and opponent.

Recruiting New Players

A new section has been added to focus on your club’s efforts for recruiting new players. This is often the key struggle for the average grassroots club. The new section will allow the club to add their own message, such as youth clubs focusing on “mixed abilities” young people rather than “competitive level football” for adult teams.

Related Links

Towards the bottom of the homepage features a ‘Links’ section. This is where you will be able to add hyperlinks to your league website, link to FA Full-Time, Facebook and club’s Twitter feed.

Optimised for mobile

Forget pinching and zooming to see content. A Grassroots Connected website will be responsive across mobile, tablet and PC, meaning your fans, players and parents will be able to browse your website on the go.

We will bring you further progress screenshots in the coming weeks. Keep checking our website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
